It is the duty of every Ping Yian to know the school rules and to observe and obey them at all times. Every Ping Yian should assist in making the school a clean, quiet, orderly and safe place to work and play in.

1. GENERAL

  • Ping Yians should be courteous and greet the Principal, Vice-Principal, teachers, administrative staff, fellow Ping Yians and visitors to the school.

  • Ping Yians must be polite at all times to teachers and fellow Ping Yians. Use of vulgar language is strictly prohibited.

  • Ping Yians must behave sensibly at all times and be a credit to the school.

  • Ping Yians must take care of all their personal belongings and valuables.

  • Ping Yians must handle all school furniture, equipment and property with care.

  • Ping Yians must not vandalise school or public property.

  • Ping Yians must not litter in and out of the school premises.

  • Ping Yians must do their part to maintain the state of cleanliness in every part of the school premises.

  • Ping Yians must adhere strictly to all safety rules in the Science and Computer Laboratories, Technical Workshops, the Gym and the Home Economics Rooms.

2. MORNING ASSEMBLY

  • Ping Yians must be ready to assemble at the hall (secondary 1 and 2) or parade ground (secondary 3, 4 & 5) promptly when the first bell rings at 7.20am .

  • The main gate and side gates will be closed at 7.20am . The flag raising ceremony will commence after the second bell at 7.25am .

  •  Ping Yians who have not assembled at the hall/parade square by 7.25am are considered late for school.

  • Ping Yians who report to school after 8.00am will be sent home.

  • Ping Yians must stand at attention during the flag raising ceremony.

  • Ping Yians who are Singapore citizens must sing the National Anthem and take the Pledge. The Pledge is recited with the right fist placed over the heart.

  • Ping Yians must move off quietly, in an orderly manner after dismissal.

  • Ping Yians must attend the weekly assembly.

  • Ping Yians must wear the school tie after recess on assembly day. The school tie must be worn smartly at all times.

3. ATTENDANCE and ABSENTEEISM

  • Daily attendance is taken by the Form Teachers at the morning flag-raising ceremony.

  • Ping Yians who are absent from school must produce a medical certificate the next day when they report for school. Otherwise, they will be regarded as playing truant.

  • Attendance of every lesson will be taken by the Subject Teachers.

  • Pupils are not allowed to leave the classroom without a movement pass or a permission slip given by the teachers.

  • Ping Yians should not leave school without the permission of their Form Teachers and the P/VP/HOD/DM or OM.Ping Yians who commit attendance related offences will have to undergo a punishment regime stipulated by the school. Recalcitrant students may be suspended from school.

4. ATTENDANCE DURING SCHOOL EVENTS

  • ONLY valid medical certificates (MC) will be accepted for absence during school events. Letters from parents and guardians will NOT be accepted.

  • Absentees have to produce an MC on the next school day.

  • Absentees without an MC will have to bring their parents / guardians to school on the next school day to explain their absence. Until their parents / guardians turn up in school to explain their absence, they may be suspended from school temporarily.

5. SCHOOL ATTIRE

  • Ping Yians are to wear the prescribed school uniform at all times. No modification to the uniform is allowed.

  • The school uniform is patterned and worn in the manner prescribed by the school.

  • Baggy shorts / pants, worn at the hips, are strictly prohibited. Ping Yians wearing baggy shorts / pants will be sent home and can only return to school if they are in proper attire and given permission by the school authorities to do so.

  • No folding of sleeves is allowed. School shirts must be buttoned at all times.

  • Ping Yians must wear white socks (above the ankle) and white based shoes (low-cut). Casual footwear is not allowed, except with medical certification.

  • Boys are not allowed to wear coloured t-shirts or white shirt with prints underneath their school shirt. Only plain white t-shirt or singlet is allowed.

  • Ping Yians must wear their respective house t-shirts for PE lessons and for mass physical activities eg. Cross Country run, Track and Field championship.

  • Ping Yians having PE must wear their PE attire to school. Students can wear their house t-shirt after their PE lesson but it must be worn with school shorts/pants/skirt.

  • Ping Yians having PE on Assembly days must change into their school uniform after recess and wear their school ties.

  • Ping Yians should have at least 2 sets of PE attire.

  • During the holidays, Ping Yians coming back to school are expected to wear the full school uniform or PE attire with their CCA/House/Class t-shirt.
